Art Cosmos Worpswede
What else is there to see?
In Worpswede, art and culture surround you at every turn! This starts with the many uniquely designed buildings, many of which served as residences for the artists, and extends to the four Worpswede museums. In addition, there are two other museums in town, the ›Museum am Modersohn-Haus‹ and the ›Käseglocke‹, as well as numerous galleries. The Music-Hall also enjoys cult status, hosting international rock, jazz, and pop acts year-round, as is typical in Worpswede.
Museum am Modersohnhaus
In the former residence of Otto Modersohn and Paula Modersohn-Becker, expanded by a spacious annex, visitors can experience an outstanding collection. In addition to numerous works by Paula Modersohn-Becker, significant paintings from the first generation of Worpswede artists are also on display. A visit to this extraordinary collection at this historically significant location brings the atmosphere of the Worpswede artist colony to life in a unique way.
Käseglocke
The distinctive round house, located in the Marcusheide, is ideally situated along the hiking trail between the Große Kunstschau and the Barkenhoff. It was designed in 1926 by the famous architect Bruno Taut. The craftsmanship collection includes original pieces from various fields such as glass, ceramics, metal, weaving, porcelain, as well as furniture from Heinrich Vogeler to Bernhard Hoetger and into modern times.
Gallery Altes Rathaus
The municipal »Gallery Altes Rathaus« showcases contemporary art exhibitions. In rotating solo and group exhibitions every four to six weeks, artists who live and work in Worpswede are featured.
Mimis Erbe
»Where can I buy art here now?« A great place for that is Mimis Erbe, a space for art in the former Stolte shop – exactly where 1884 the friendship between Mimi Stolte and Fritz Mackensen all began. In the exhibition and sales space, you will find modern art from Worpswede and the surrounding area, and you have the opportunity to take home your personal piece of unique art.
Music Hall
For over 25 years, the Music Hall in Worpswede has offered a diverse and high-quality cultural and music program.
